What that means in practice

The trips listed here are sold through Viator and GetYourGuide. When you follow a link from one of these pages and go on to book, the platform pays us a share of its own commission. You pay the same fare either way; the price on the booking page is the operator's price, not a marked-up one.

What we are not

We are not a boat operator. We do not run any of these trips, employ any of these captains or crews, or hold your booking. Your contract is with the operator, through the platform.

We have no connection with the State of Hawaii, its Department of Land and Natural Resources, its state parks or harbors, NOAA, the humpback whale sanctuary or any boat company.

How boats get listed

Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a badge. A badge on a card is a measured claim of ours: Top rated only on a trip rated 4.9 or higher, Best seller only on the trip with the most reviews, Best value only on the cheapest. Today Best seller sits on the Lucky Lady snorkel cruise and Best value on the Nawiliwili bay cruise, and nothing is rated high enough for Top rated. A platform's own award, such as Viator's Badge of Excellence or GetYourGuide's Top rated, is not shown.

The featured trips at the top of the homepage are three different days from three operators and both harbours: Holo Holo's morning snorkel and sail, the Lucky Lady sunset dinner cruise, and the Nawiliwili bay cruise.

Holo Holo Charters sells both its morning sail and its sunset sail on both platforms. The paired listings differ in fare and in cancellation window: 24 hours on Viator, 7 days on GetYourGuide at the lower fare. They are never shown side by side, and each is described from its own page.

Prices, ratings and how current they are

Prices, star ratings and review counts belong to the operators and were taken from their own listings on 28 September 2026. They move, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. Every fare is quoted in US dollars, the currency the listings were captured in, and is the listing's own per-person from-price; child fares, where a listing has them, are lower. A listing's time-limited discount is not shown, because it ends; the fare shown is the bookable one. Cents are dropped, never rounded up.

Landing rules, the kayak season, park closures and park fees are the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources' own; the whale season and the approach distance are NOAA's. Where a detail comes from a listing, such as a check-in desk, an age limit or what the fare covers, it belongs to that trip.

What we deliberately do not publish

Sailing that a listing does not promise. Only two listings promise time under sail, and only when the wind allows. The rest are described as the listing describes the boat, and the bay cruise not as a sail at all.
A landing or a cave. No catamaran here lands you on a beach or takes you inside a sea cave; only the state's permitted raft tours land passengers, and only rafts go into the caves.
A length or a height for the coast. The listings disagree on both, and the state's pages give neither.
Hotel pickup. No listing includes it.
A check-in time the listing does not settle. One sunset cruise's season record and its own site disagree, so its time is left to your confirmation.
